Our long history: Jim Porter's Biography

Porter Entertainment  booking agency was founded, owned and operated by Jim Porter from 1958 to 2001. He will be inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2005, after serving on its board from 1996 until 2004. Though Mr. Porter retired from day-to-day involvement in booking, his vast experience and expertise continue to contribute to the agency. Today, Mr. Porter concentrates on his duties as a member of the Pulaski County Quorum Court, and has begun a new career as a public speaker.

Tim Jones joined the agency in 1991. He brings a life-long passion for music to the agency, plus years of experience in radio broadcasting, musical program direction, and writing about music for the Arkansas Times, Nightflying, and other publications. Jones was the Entertainment Director/Talent Buyer for the popular nightclub Smitty's in Little Rock from 1992 until 2002. In 2001, he assumed ownership of Porter Entertainment, and the name of the agency was changed to Porter-Jones Entertainment, Inc .

Today, Tim works closely with a wide variety of clients, booking all types of special events. He has a long-term relationship with the festival committee and staff at one of the state's largest festival events, Little Rock's " Riverfest ." Jones has booked approximately 250 local, regional, and national acts for the festival since 1998.

Tim also maintains productive relationships with literally hundreds of local and national musicians, as well as production companies, performance venues, recording studios, DJ services, personal managers, and national booking agencies.

Booking bands and soloists for private events such as wedding receptions, social gatherings, and corporate events continues to be a primary focus for Porter-Jones Entertainment, Inc.
