Guido Ritchie Duo

Guido & Steve at the Clinton Presidential Center Great Hall, Summer 2005
The Guido Ritchie Duo is a unique musical adventure that bridges the gap between jazz as a classy, mood-setting background medium and jazz as Art with a capital "A." With an accessible-yet-unorthodox instrumentation and a song list that encompasses both timeless jazz standards and fascinating new arrangements of contemporary pop tunes, the Guido Ritchie Duo provides the perfect combination of understated atmosphere and fearless creativity.
Trumpet player Guido Ritchie is one of central Arkansas' finest jazz musicians. His melodic lead work and rich, cool tone is both elegant and creative. Since he began performing professionally at the age of 18, he has performed with or opened shows for such legendary artists as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Clark Terry, Thelonious Monk, Jr., Mose Allison, Charles Thomas, Edger Winter, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Vallejo, and Aquarium Rescue Unit. He has also been a featured performer in both the Hot Springs Jazz Festival and the Eureka Springs Jazz Festival. Recently he recorded for HBO's The Chris Rock Show. Guido also performs with local favorites The Smokey Lane Trio, The Sugar Kings, Count Floyd, and many others.
Steve Hudelson is a stellar electric guitarist in a wide variety of styles. His tasteful, rhythmic approach gives the duo a toe-tapping playfulness that sets the perfect mood. A Graduate of The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's jazz studies program, Steve is a guitarist who is comfortable in almost any musical setting. Though his first love is jazz, he has contributed his talents to many high-profile projects in central Arkansas, including the pop dance band Amnesia, the folk-rock of the Sara Thomas Band, funk and reggae band Afrodesia, and various performances in productions at the Arkansas Repertory Theater.
As a duo, Guido and Steve have performed for nightclubs, wedding receptions, private parties, luncheons, and corporate functions. Their unique instrumentation and solid musicianship provide a relaxed atmosphere that satisfies casual listeners and serious music fans alike.
